There are two School Crossing Supervisors on duty each morning from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and each afternoon from 2:40 p.m. to 3:10 p.m. to assist children and parents across the crossings.
Parents and caregivers are reminded to set a positive example by always using the designated crossings. While you may be able to avoid a speeding car, a child who follows your lead may not be as fortunate. Let’s all work together to keep our students safe.
Children riding bicycles or scooters to school must:
Walk their bicycles or scooters while on school grounds.
Take care when entering the roadway from the school, mounting their bicycle or scooter only once they are outside the school gate.
Leave their bicycles or scooters in the designated bike racks and not return to them until it is time to go home. These must be secured with a suitable chain and lock.
Walk their bicycles or scooters along the pedestrian paths at the front and back of the school during busy times (before and after school) until it is safe to ride on the road.
Additional guidelines:
The bike racks are out of bounds to children who do not have bicycles or scooters stored there.
Bicycles and scooters must not be borrowed or lent under any circumstances.
Children must not play or loiter in or around the bike rack area.
All children must wear a properly fitted bicycle safety helmet at all times when riding.
Students are expected to:
Travel to and from school by the most direct route, without stopping or loitering at shops or other places.
Be courteous and respectful to their friends, other students, adults, and all members of the community.
Look after and support younger students — bullying or harassment will not be tolerated.
Avoid talking to strangers.
Follow all road and traffic safety rules.
Conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the high standards and positive reputation of Mount Archer State School.
