ADMISSIONS

Mt Archer State School welcomes students from Prep to Year 6. If you would like to enroll your child, please visit the school office. A staff member will meet with you and your child to help with the enrollment process.

When enrolling your child, you will need to provide some important documents:

  1. Proof of Birth: We need to see a document that shows your child’s date of birth.

  2. Proof of Identity: We need to confirm who you are and your child’s identity.

  3. Proof of Address: Please bring a document that shows where you live, like a rental notice, electricity bill, or rates notice.

The school will also provide an Enrolment Agreement. This agreement explains the rights and responsibilities of parents, caregivers, and students. You and your child will need to sign this agreement before the enrollment is complete.

If your child has a disability, please let the Principal know at the time of enrollment. You may also meet with the Principal Education Officer at Education Queensland’s office in Rockhampton (Phone: 49384 661) to discuss any support your child may need.

Important: If your child is currently suspended from another school, they cannot be enrolled at Mt Archer State School until the suspension is over.

We look forward to welcoming you and your child to our school!

STATE EDUCATION ALLOCATION

All students attending Queensland State Schools are entitled to an allocation of State education.  The basic allocation is 24 semesters (i.e. 12 years from Year 1–12). The principal may allocate 2 additional semesters, the Regional Executive Director may allocate a further 2 semesters, and the Assistant Director-General Student Services may allocate a final 2 semesters.

Parents/Caregivers will receive a statement with the remaining semester allocation with the end of semester student reports.  Decisions relating to additional semester allocations are documented in writing detailing personnel involved, evidence looked at, facts relied upon and reasons for the decision.

TRANSFERS

I

If your child is moving to a new school, please let both your current school and the new school know.

  • If both schools are state schools, the transfer will be done through OneSchool, the state school system.

  • If your child is moving to a private school or a school in another state, you will need a transfer note.

The transfer note includes important information about your child that will be sent to the new school. This information includes:

  • Your child's personal details

  • Custody or guardianship orders (if any)

  • Medical information

  • Current school details

  • The level your child is in at school

  • How much state education your child has used

  • School attendance records

  • Your child’s school performance

  • Any educational support your child has received

  • Any behavioural issues

Transfers are requested by the parent or the new school. The transfer helps the new school understand your child’s needs and continue their education smoothly. If your child is moving from another state, an Interstate Student Data Transfer Note will be used.

STUDENT CONSENT FORM

Occasionally, your child may be recognized for their achievements or for taking part in activities. This could include photos or videos of your child being published or shown in different places, such as:

  • Newsletters or newspapers

  • TV or radio

  • Public displays

Your child’s work might also be shown in these places.

If you do not want your child to be shown in photos, videos, or have their work displayed, please fill out the consent form when you enroll your child. This form lets us know if you are okay with your child being recognized in these ways. Showing your child’s achievements helps celebrate their growth and also promotes the school's work.
