MUSIC LESSONS
Students in all year levels attend music lessons in the music room. Students from prep to Year 4 attend two music lessons weekly. Students in Years 5 and 6 have one music lesson a week.
RECORDER BAND
From Year 4 students learn to play the recorder in their weekly music lessons. Students from years 4 to 6 are encouraged to participate in a recorder band. The band performs while classes arrive for assembly each fortnight.
CHOIRS
Our Specialist Music Teacher conducts several choirs at the school. Mt Archer School choirs successfully participate in the local Eisteddfod each year. Our choirs also support other school and community events.
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
Specialist Instrumental Music teachers conduct free lessons in Brass, Woodwind, Percussion and String instruments. Children in Years 4, 5 and 6 may access this program once a selection process has been undertaken. This program allows children free tuition through to Year 12 at a State High School, but there are certain requirements, which must be met by participating students. Parents who wish their children to participate in this program will need to contact the school. As part of this program, brass, woodwind and percussion students have the opportunity to be a member of the school concert band. Some students may be able to access a small pool of school instruments. There is an expectation that after the first 12 months of loan, students will purchase their own instrument, particularly smaller instruments such as flutes, trumpets, violins, etc. Instrumental Music students are expected to participate in the Combined Schools Workshops and Concert at the end of the year, as well as other school events e.g. fetes, ceremonies, etc.
