SUPPORT TEACHER: LITERACY AND NUMERACY

The role of the Support Teacher Literacy and Numeracy is to identify children whose learning is significantly below the accepted standards in Literacy and Numeracy for their year level based on recognised assessments. Support programs are provided to students indentified for support in small group settings.

GUIDANCE SERVICES

A Guidance Officer visits the school three times each week, to plan and consult with parents, teachers and students.  The Guidance Officer also periodically organises courses to assist with parenting and to develop parent-tutoring skills.  The Guidance Officer is responsible for conducting various cognitive, social and emotional assessments to inform parents, educators and other external professional supporting students.

OTHER EDUCATION QUEENSLAND SUPPORT SERVICES

Visiting specialists are available for consultation on request. Cases are prioritised across the District, and where possible support is provided.

OTHER EXTERNAL AGENCIES

From time to time, services provided by other agencies are accessed to support the needs of various children.
