SCHOOL UNIFORM

Mount Archer is a uniform school. The school uniform consists of:

  • Mount Archer Polo Shirt with school logo on the pocket (available from tuckshop)
  • Royal blue shorts for boys. Girls can wear royal blue shorts, skirt or skorts.
  • Enclosed shoes, preferably black or white joggers
  • White socks. Mount Archer SS insignia socks are available
  • Royal blue broad brim hat with Mount Archer logo or royal blue legionnaires cap

CLOTHING

Children are expected to be neatly dressed (in their school uniform) at all times.  Covered-in shoes, socks and suitable hats must be worn.

SUN PROTECTION (HATS)

The wearing of hats is actively encouraged at this school.  The policy is “No broad-brimmed or legionnaire hat, no play”.  Royal Blue school hats are available at the Tuckshop.  The school hats provide far more protection from the sun and are highly recommended.  Baseball caps and bucket hats are not permitted as they offer inadequate sun protection.  The importance of sun protection has been widely documented in recent years.  Queensland’s climatic conditions make it imperative that students, staff and school community are made more fully aware of the importance of safe sun protection practices.

JEWELLERY

Most items of jewellery must be left at home (this applies to both boys and girls).  Earrings are restricted to small studs or sleepers only. No jewellery is to be worn during swimming lessons or physical education or sports’ activities. Watches may be worn, but need to be removed and safely located during all sports activities. Teachers will not accept responsibility for lost items.

HAIR ACCESSORIES

Long hair should be worn tied up in pony tail or similar. Hair accessories should be simple school attire and co-ordinating with the school colours of royal blue and gold.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS

All personal belongings should be clearly marked with the child’s name.
Here’s an important SAFETY TIP:  When naming your child’s bag or hat, put their name inside.  Advertising your child’s name in large print is an invitation to any unscrupulous person to use it to gain their trust.  If you are worried that your child may not be able to differentiate between ports of similar design, paint a colourful pattern on the outside of their port with fabric paint or tie a bright ribbon to the zipper.
Valuable toys, electronic games, etc., pose a security risk at school and ownership is often difficult to prove.  Please remember that the school cannot accept responsibility for any losses that may occur if such items are brought to school.

UNCLAIMED/LOST PROPERTY

All lost property is located near the office.  Please make sure all articles of clothing and equipment are clearly marked with your child’s name.  Parents may inspect the box at any time to recover their child’s property.  From time to time, all unclaimed and unlabelled items will be laundered and sent to the tuckshop for sale as a second-hand item.  Some items may be donated to a recognised charity.  Children are not permitted to sift through the Lost Property box to augment their wardrobe.  Only clothing that belongs to your child should be removed from the Lost Property box.  Occasionally, the more valuable items in the lost property may be handed in to and stored at the office, so please enquire at the office.
